Gerald: Pajer Name Origin
Hello from Michigan in America. My grandmother came from Vencsello (now Gavavencsello). Her parents were Pajer Konrad (1837-1892) & Vinnai Erzebet(1845-1906). I am trying to find out the name of Pajer Konrad's parents. I also wish to find out if he had any brothers or sisters. The Roman Catholic Church Records for Vencsello is missing some important dates for me to find this out.
Does anyone have a Pajer connection to Vencsello? Looking for some distant relatives.
Does anyone know the origin of the name Pajer? Did this name come from Germany in the 1700s?
Any information on PAJER would be great. Thank you

Gerald Kisabeth: Re: Pajer Name Origin
To Sandor Kerekes, do you have more information on your great grandmother Pajer Borbala? When was she born approximately? Who were her parents? Did she have any brothers or sisters?
My grandmother was born in 1870 in Vencsello & died in Michigan in 1952.She had several sisters & brothers. She had a sister named Margit and a few nieces named Margit. What was your great grandfather's name who died in Buffalo, New York at 32 years old?
Do you know of a Pajer Kereszely, born 1890 & died in 1955. He married Vinnai Marigitot in 1902 in Vencsello.
I would like to know more about any Pajer & Vinnai families from Vencsello.

Gerald Kisabeth: Re: Pajer Name Origin
It was so nice to receive an email from a fellow Pajer. I have been researching the Pajer/Vinnai families for some years now & am ready to complete my Dobozy/Pajer History Book. I have some cousins who have also been researching the Pajer name in Hungary. My wife & I are very excited as we will make our first trip to Hungary and visit the villages of my grandparents and Gavavencsello is included.
I am most curious about the parents of your Keresztely Pajer. On the church record it lists only his mother as Borbala Pajer born 1868. My grandmother's name also was Borbala Pajer & she was born in 1870 but immigrated to America in 1892. There is some speculation that my Borbala Pajer was the same person as your Borbala Pajer but I doubt it as my grandma had 10 children (in America) and returned to Vencsello to visit twice. Surely, she would have brought your Keresztely Pajer with her, don't you think? I have included a copy of the film. I am also sending a copy of this posting to the granddaughter at the email address you had posted. Perhaps she can share some information. There was also a Borbala Pajer (her father was Peter Pajer) who married a Jozef Spier (his parents were Janos Spier & Erzsbet Berks) on July 8, 1891. Could this be your Borbala Pajer?
I live only 25 miles from Windsor, Canada in Canton, Michigan. It would be very nice to meet the Pajer sons.
I would really like to know more of you and your family and if you wish to share information that would be great.

MI Genes: Re: Pajer Name Origin
On a side note to your Dobozy/Pajer ancestry....would Bertha (Dobozy) Kisabeth be your relation?

I think that this Dobozy line ties into my research on the Szwajkowski family by way of Bertha's brother, Kenneth. I also show that Charles & Bertha (aka: Borbala) Dobozy, and two of their daughter's (Helen & Irene) are buried in the St Stephen's Catholic Cemetery, in close proximity to the Szwajkowski's

Have been trying to located the Dobozy's in the census enumerations but cannot find them through the online indexes...missing the 1900 and 1930 enumerations for the senior Charles and Bertha. Since his headstone shows he died in 1930, he may not have been in that year, but I would think that Bertha would be out there somewhere.

If you can provide any insight to their location and how I can find them in the census, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks

Gerald KIsabeth: Re: Pajer Name Origin
Yes, my mother was Bertha (Dobozy) Kisabeth. She passed away in 2002 at the age of 92. Her parents were Charles & Barbara (Pájer) Dobozy. My mother's brother was Ken Dobozy, married to Rose Szwajkowski. What is your relationship to the line? I am in the process of completing my Dobozy/Pájer Family History Book. I hope to have it finally completed in a few months. I have had some delays for the past few years (illness, deaths, further Hungarian research, church records etc..... But I am back in full force.
My Dobozy grandparents traveled back to Hungary at least twice since they were married in Duquesne. Pa in 1892 with 2 of their children born in Hungary. Grandpa died in 1930 & there is no record of Barbara & son Andy fo the 1930 census.
They may have been living with the oldest son Charles & wife Vilma in Detroit's DelRay section near the railroads where he worked. And we can't find them either! We have searched thouroughly in the 1930 census to no avail. My mother and a few of her siblings were living with sister Mary (Dobozy) Gray in Plymouth at the time. As far as the 1900 census the whole family was in Hungary where son John was born in January 1900 in Vencsello. Mary was also born in Vencsello, Hungary in 1909 when they returned.
I'd like to hear from you and your connection to Aunt Rose & Uncle "Blue." my address is geraldkisabeth -k-u-k-a-c- hotmail -p-o-n-t- com

Mariann Pájer: Re: Pajer Name Origin
Hello!
I'just now lokk this page, and I hope, you read my letter.

My nane is Marianna Pájer. My grandfather was Konrád Pájer (He was born in Vencsellő, 1910) His parents: Borbála Vinnai, and Keresztély Pájer. He had 3 sisters'I think.
His ount were Borbála and Anna (nickname's were "Pávi" and "Náni"), they went to America. My great-grandfather went America too, and he died in the coal mine in 1914.
Mary was relatives my grendfether, I loked her photos (like a young girl) she was nice, and grandparent told me - they (Mary's) once time were to visit in Vencsellő.
You can find any informations about our famili in the Roman Catholic Church, beacausein 1919 was a big fire, and the register of births were burnt.
But you know well, my familiy went from Germany to Vencsellő. The legend the origin of family name is the next: our fathers were bajor's (Bavarian), and the this cold folksy/dialect pajor/pajer befor a long time ago.

My gradparents told my in my cildhood - in the time is 1910-1914 in the village (Vencsellő) a lot of people went to America, but the contact braked down in the time of socializm.

My grandparents has only one child, my father Gyula.
I think, I can find some old photos, if you interest, I can try scanning them.

I hope, you can answer.

Marianna Pájer
